The realm of the 70s in our countdown is the offensive line. They often take time to develop, but everyone once in a while you see a redshirt freshman emerge to contribute in year two. That could be today’s player.
Spencer Holstege - Fr. (RS)
Grand Rapids, MI (South Christian HS)
6’5”, 295 pounds
Offensive Line
2020 Projection: Contributor
I seem to remember Holstege being mentioned as a reserve at some point last year, but he ended up not playing at all and preserving his redshirt. He has since started to work out at tackle, but has also been discussed as being a guard or even a center.
That makes for a crowded battle, no matter what the final position is. Last season saw Eric Miller and Will Bramel handle the right tackle spot and both return. Jimmy McKenn, DJ Washington, Sam Garvin, Mark Stickford, Cam Craig, and Viktor Beach are all also in the mix to start. That makes for quite a battle for Holstege.
