Jeff Brohm has secured another commit for the 2021 recruiting class as 3-Star linebacker Tristan Cox verbally committed to Purdue today.
The Boilers were able to beat out the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia for Cox’s services starting next year.
Cox is listed at 6’3’, 235 pounds as an inside linebacker from Somerset, Kentucky where he plays his high school ball for Pulaski County High School. He is ranked as the 1051st best overall prospect in the county, 41st at the inside linebacker position and 11th best in the state of Kentucky by 247 sports.
He recorded 94 tackles this past season and got some snaps at running back too which is a sign that his athleticism and toughness will both be useful tools as a part of Bob Diaco’s 3-4 defense. He ran for 509 yards and had 252 receiving yards in 10 games while scoring 15 touchdowns.
Tristan will join Rondale Moore, Milton Wright, Will Bramel, Cory Trice, and Kadin Smith as Kentucky natives that coach Brohm has gotten to pledge to Purdue over the past couple of seasons.
Purdue now sits at 4 players for their 2021 recruiting class with Cox joining wide receiver Preston Terrell, offensive tackle Jaelin Alstott-VanDeVanter and cornerback Brandon Calloway.
