The Friday night of sectionals is always a busy one as the tournament goes from 256 teams to 128. As expected, there were a lot of great games around the state. Lawrence North knocked off a top 10 team for the second night in a row, defending 4A champion Carmel won on a buzzer beater, and Purdue commit Caleb Furst won with ease.

Roosevelt is a great story if they win this. They have had to play all road games this season due to maintenance issues at the school and have now won two games to reach the sectional final. They won only two games in the regular season, but have now won two in the tournament. Also, Andrean is the first defending champion to go down as they won last year in 2A.
