Fire up the recruiting siren, because Coach Painter just got a HUGE commitment for 2021!

Furst is a 6’8” forward from Ft. Wayne that plays for Ft. Wayne Blackhawk Christian. His team has had enormous success in the state the past few years with him. As a freshman they were 26-3 and lost in the Class A semi-state to Southwood. The only other losses were to Fort Wayne Dwenger and Fort Wayne North (when North had Keion Brooks). Last year as a sophomore Blackhawk went 28-2 and won the Class A state title. Due to the IHSAA success factor they moved up to Class 2A this season and they enter this week’s state tournament ranked No. 2 in that class with a 20-3 record, losing only to defending 3A champion Silver Creek, Homestead, and Indianapolis Crispus Attucks.
Furst is a big time recruit and borderline 5-star. According to ESPN he is the No. 36 national recruit. According to 247 he is No. 31 in the nation. Rivals has him at No. 32. Painter beat out Michigan State and Virginia for him, making Painter’s recruiting record against Izzo now 2-7,912.
I heard you like a stretch four.
Furst is a gigantic commitment for 2021, and if Painter can land Trey Kaufman or Harrison Ingram as another forward to pair with him and then have Jaden Ivey and Ethan Morton in the backcourt I may have to fan myself.
