This is the 21st consecutive where Purdue has had a player on at least one of the two teams, but actually scoring touchdowns is extremely rare. In fact, the only time a Purdue player actually scored a touchown in a Super Bowl was Mike Alstott in Super Bowl XXXVII for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He now has company.

That’s a @RMos_8Ball TOUCHDOWN! #ProBoilers x #SBLIV

Obviously, this is a technicality. Len Dawson, Bob Griese, and Drew Brees have all thrown touchdown passes, but none of them actually scored a touchdown.
This just continues the great story for Mostert since the NFC championship game. There is a still a quarter left and he has 29 yards and a score on 8 carries, plus a reception for two yards. Maybe he can break a fourth quarter run and join Brees and Dawson as Super Bowl MVP winners.
I will be fine with him and Jacob Thieneman coming back next season to lead SHOUT with Super Bowl rings.
