Two weeks ago, Purdue basketball picked up their first commitment for the class of 2022 in Fletcher Loyer. Today, 4-star combo guard Jameel Brown has announced he will join Loyer in coming to West Lafayette in 2022.

The 6’4, 190 pound combo guard from Haverford, Pennsylvania chose the Boilermakers over offers from Auburn, Marquette, Xavier, Penn and several low majors schools. Brown joins fellow Pennsylvania native Ethan Morton as the second recruit from the state to pledge to Purdue.

This is a good get for Matt Painter as he is athletic enough to create his own offense, a tremendous passer and can fill it up from three point range. Brown is currently rated as the 131st best prospect in the class of 2022 by 247 composite rankings. He dropped in the latest recruiting rankings as he sat out last season due to a wrist injury, but is getting back in action.

As mentioned before, Purdue’s class in the year of 2022 sits at two with Fletcher Loyer and now Jameel Brown. As of now, Coach Matt Painter will have Brown, Fletcher Loyer, Isaiah Thompson, Brandon Newman, Jaden Ivey, and Ethan Morton in the backcourt that season. That is a scary lineup for the rest of the Big Ten to face. Currently, the Boilermakers have two scholarships remaining in 2022-23 assuming no changes between now and then.

Camden Heide, CJ Gunn, Vince Iwuchukwu and Paul McMillan are a few names that Purdue has been interested in as well for this class.

Purdue fans will learn to love Jameel Brown’s play when he arrives to campus in a little less than two years. Welcome aboard Jameel, Boiler Up!
