National Signing Day 2020: Yanni Karlaftis Signs NLI!

We have been waiting for a while for this one.

NCAA Football: Purdue at Penn State John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

We have waited months for this one.

Another Karlaftis is staying home in West Lafayette.

Yanni will join his brother on the defensive side of the ball and will be a player that can make an impact right away.

He fills an instant need for another playmaker at outside linebacker. He is a candidate to play in the hybrid role, that is a safety and an Outside Linebacker.

In a rather small, class, Yanni is the highlight of the class. But, this class focused on some key needs. Defensive playmakers and offensive line depth - classes in between of getting the flashy wide receivers will be the glue to the roster, that is the 2021 class.

Yanni only played in one game during his senior year at West Lafayette Junior-Senior High School. In game one of the season, he hurt his hamstring, an injury that would shut him down for the remainder of the season, but, college coaches had seen enough already anyway.

If anyone or any family knows Purdue, it is the Karlaftis family, they have grown up in the backyard of Ross-Ade Stadium. Yanni saw his brother go through a recruitment just as big as his as well and he knows the ins and outs of Purdue.

Yanni is a 4 star instant playmaker for a Purdue defense just absolutely desperate for playmakers. At 6-3, 210 pounds, he has obvious room to grow, but he is athletic and mobile enough to play right away.

He chose Purdue over Wisconsin, Cal, Oregon, Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State

Welcome to Purdue, Yanni - even though you have been one your entire life. Boiler Up.
