It is National Early Signing Day and as of right now Purdue is expected to sign a relatively small class. There are currently only 12 commitments, but that is not shocking when there were only about 12 scholarship seniors on the original pre-pandemic roster. We also only have 10 scholarship guys for what would have been the 2021 senior class. Given the uncertain nature of how scholarships will be measured in the next few seasons as everyone got a free year this year, I am not surprised at all.
The biggest commitment we are waiting on is four-star linebacker Yanni Karlaftis. George’s little brother will be announcing later this afternoon and Purdue is the favorite there. Purdue’s low rating is mostly because of the small volume of signees, but adding a four-star linebacker will help a lot in the long run.
So welcome aboard, young men. Let’s get this train back on track in 2021.
