No GK for Purdue. Will the defense be able to cope?

Jumbo Heroes (2-2) Says:

The Purdue offense will be without AOC who apparently will be having some type of surgery soon. As of this writing I’m not sure what surgery that is. That said, Plummer stepped up admirably in relief work last week and with Rondale Moore and David Bell on the same field this offense could be explosive. I’m counting on that to be the case with GK out due to Covid.

Plus, it’s Rutgers. That’s gotta count for something right?

Drew (1-2) Says:

I don’t know what to think about this Purdue team. They could be good. They could be bad. I think they can score some points, but they’re not good in the red zone. Brohm loses interest in the run game even when it’s working and teams have done a decent job of limiting big plays in the passing game by playing their safeties deep and begging Purdue to run the ball.

On defense, without an elite pass rusher, the Boilermakers are both bending and breaking, which isn’t ideal. The back half of the defense is forced to play coverage while the opposing quarterback surveys his options, checks with the coach, checks his options again, and then delivers an unhurried pass to the option of his choosing.

Rutgers won’t quit and will make it tough on Purdue, but I think...think...Purdue can score enough points to win.

Jace (2-2) Says:

Purdue needs a win in this one after two consecutive losses to Northwestern and Minnesota. I think the offense will be better with Plummer starting, and that will be the key to this game. Rutgers has struggled this entire year and I expect that to continue. The defense can use this game as a confidence boost to get things going after a poor performance last week. Purdue wins in a big way.

Travis (4-0) Says:

This one depends on which Purdue shows up. I really hope it is angry Purdue, because we have every right to be angry. Rutgers plays hard, but is not a good team. They struggle defensively and Purdue has all of its weapons. If we can have even a modicum of defense this should be a game we can win. I know nothing is ever certain with us though.

Kyle (1-2) Says:

I need not elaborate. We lose, I will write a post on why Brohm should be fired.
