Purdue picked up their first commit for the class of 2022, and it’s a good one in 3-star guard Fletcher Loyer! He announced his decision via Twitter on Monday evening.

Fletcher comes from a basketball family as he is the younger brother of Michigan State point guard Foster Loyer who will take the reigns for the Spartans after Cassius Winston left for the NBA. His father was also an assistant coach at the NCAA level and an NBA head coach as well.

He just recently transferred to Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana which Purdue fans can recall a certain All-American came from the same school in the form of Caleb Swanigan. Painter has started to get more and more in state recruits with the likes of Caleb Furst, Trey Kaufman, Jaden Ivey and now Fletcher Loyer comes into the fold as well.

The younger Loyer had a long list of suitors and choose the Boilermakers over offers from the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, Utah, Missouri, and Nebraska. Oddly, he did not have an offer from Michigan State at the time of his commitment.

He was rated 133rd nationally by 247 sports and the 6th ranked recruit from the state of Indiana. Loyer is listed at 6’5 and has a ridiculous clip from three point range. The Boilermakers got a good one here, and many see him as a Ryan Cline/Sasha Stefanovic type player for Coach Matt Painter.

Congratulations to Fletcher, Boiler Up!
