Purdue vs. Northwestern Predictions

What does the crew think of the upcoming game?

Jumbo Heroes (1-1):

After a week off from the schedule thanks to a cancelled game against Wisconsin, Purdue is back on the field this weekend, and back at Ross-Ade Stadium against the Northwestern Wildcats. I learned a lot about NU (yes, they do go by NU) by listening to the most recent podcast. Have a listen if you want to learn more. For instance, I didn’t know how good the secondary of Northwestern was. It’s gonna be strength against strength with the Purdue receiving corps (will Rondale Moore play? I wouldn’t hold my breath.) against the Northwestern secondary. In situations like this I’ll put my money on the offense because they just need to be able to make a handful of big plays, or conversely the secondary just has to make a handful of mistakes.

I don’t think this game will ever feel safe and Purdue might look like they are gonna lose even well into the fourth quarter but I think Purdue pulls it out. I also don’t trust former IU QB Peyton Ramsey to be the superstar and not make mistakes.

Travis (2-0) Says:

Every time I start to get confident about Purdue sports something happens. Northwestern has a really good defense that has not given up a point in the second half yet. Their offense is relatively one dimensional, but effective. We also may be without two of our best weapons in Rondale Moore and George Karlaftis. I can’t believe I am saying this, but we have proven we can survive without Moore. Without big George, however, the defense is not nearly as good. If both play I think Purdue wins comfortably. I don’t think both will play, and we take a step back just as we had a chance to take control of the West.

Drew (1-0) Says:

In boxing terms, this is a classic battle of styles. You’ve got the aggressive Purdue offense that wants to play in the 30s and the grind it out Northwestern team that would rather run the ball (and clock) and play in 20’s. Purdue needs to be efficient on offense because Northwestern is going to try and play keep away and limit possession. The Purdue defense has to get off the field on 3rd and long when they get the opportunity. I think Purdue gets off the field enough to win.

Jace (2-0) Says:

Purdue NEEDS to win this game at home, as they will have an open road to a Big Ten Championship game opportunity. Northwestern’s offense has not played well, but their defense has performed well to help offset that. I think Purdue scores enough to win, but it will be a close and hard fought game. Hammer Dahn, Purdue +3.

Casey (2-0) Says:

This game will not ever feel good. Purdue’s defense will be pushed around. They will run run run the entire game. NW secondary will hold up better than most but the game will break with a Ramsey turnover and a big pass on offense to Wright.

Purdue and Northwestern for control of the Big Ten West, just like everyone predicted. Let’s roll with it.
