20 years ago we had the best Purdue football season of the modern era. God smiled upon as the Boilers won a shared Big Ten with Michigan and Northwestern and earned a spot in the Rose Bowl for only the second time.
On Saturday those uniforms return.
SATURDAY’S BATTLE ARMOR.

Purdue worse similar throwbacks during (I think) the 2010 season when they worse the white version that the team actually wore in Pasadena. This is the first time the black version returns to the sideline. The old uniforms were designed by Champion and worn mostly from 1997-2001 before the ill-fated gold uniforms during the entire 2002 home season. Purdue would wear gold with black numbers, the only time they have done so since Rod Woodson, during the 2003 season opener vs. Bowling Green, but a 27-26 loss meant we were back in black and they were put away.
I have to say I LOVE these throwbacks. These were the uniforms of Drew Brees and what Purdue worse during my four years as a student in West Lafayette. It’s great to have them back.
