Purdue Football Player Countdown: #42 Clyde Washington

The freshman from New Jersey could see immediate playing time.

Like Kydran Jenkins yesterday, today’s player could see immediate playing time at linebacker.

2020 Projection: reserve at linebacker

I like that Washington is a taller linebacker. He was listed as an outside linebacker and a three star recruit by both 247 and Rivals. He is also a legacy according to his hometown paper:

You could say Clyde Washington is already in law enforcement.

The Lenape senior linebacker is headed for Purdue University next season to continue his football career and probably look into criminal justice as a major.

It’s a logical development; his grandfather, also named Clyde, played football at Purdue. His mother is a former FBI agent and his father is a homicide detective.

Washington did play some defensive end during his time in high school, but the faster way tot he field at the moment is definitely at linebacker given Purdue’s depth. Here are his highlights to close out:
