NCAA Basketball: Illinois at Purdue Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

It feels like the season is basically over if Purdue drops this one. Purdue would fall to 10-10, 3-6 in the Big Ten, but with two straight losses at home. Purdue has not lost consecutive home games since losing to Michigan and Northwestern in the final two games of the 2013-14 season. That ended up being part of a three-game home losing streak where Purdue went 4-5 at home in conference play.

Since then, Purdue has lost in Mackey just five times in conference play.

A Purdue win keeps hope alive, as it would be a tier 1 win. A loss would be a mortal blow because it also means 5 losses in 6 games, thus we would be in the “need unexpected turnaround” in order to make the NCAAs.
