Purdue Football to Hire Terrance Jamison

We have a third new assistant!

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Tech Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Brohm has been busy this offseason. He has already added a new defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator, but according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier we have now added a new defensive line coach:

He attended Wisconsin and was a backup defensive lineman for the Badgers before knee issues ended his career. Jamison spent four seasons as a student assistant, quality control assistant and graduate assistant at Wisconsin. He was the defensive line coach at Edgewood High School in Wisconsin in 2010.

Jamison was most recently at Air Force, Purdue’s third opponent of the 2020 season. That reason alone is significant because their unique triple-option offense is tricky to defend for defensive linemen, so his insight will be most helpful.

That information aside, Jamison he ahd a stop at Texas Tech for two years before last year at Air Force:

Tech was among the nation’s leaders in several categories under Jamison, as the Red Raiders forced 29 turnovers, which led the Big 12 and ranked sixth nationally in 2017. Tech also finished fourth in the country for fumble recoveries, eighth in defensive touchdowns and 13th in turnover margin.

The defensive line forced seven fumbles and fell on five, while Tony Jones and Mychealon Thomas both recorded interceptions to cap Jamison’s first season on staff. Jones and Thomas were two of five defensive linemen who were named honorable mention All-Big 12 selections following the 2017 season, joining the likes of Eli Howard, Kolin Hill and Broderick Washington Jr.

So now we get to have him help shape George Karlaftis, Lorenzo Neal, Steven Faucheaux, and incoming four-star recruit Greg Hudgins.
