Welcome to the Desmond Bane Bowl! I was a big advocate that Matt Painter needed to offer Desmond Bane a few years ago for basketball, but the lightly recruited guard from Richmond ended up headed to TCU. Now he is averaging 15 points per game heading into his final year.
That was basketball though, and this is football, where we have a similar situation to last week. Purdue and TCU have played twice and while Vanderbilt had won both previous meetings before last Saturday, Purdue won both meetings with the Horned Frogs in 1969 and 1970. We can’t take a lot from those games that happened before many of the parents of the current players were born, but it is nice to have these new opponents come through.
This should be a fun little night game at home before the Big Ten season starts, and a Purdue win helps erase what happened in Reno.
