Today we feature another redshirt freshman member of the secondary.

Cory Trice - Fr. (RS)

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County HS)

6’3”, 215 pounds

Safety

2019 Projection: Reserve at Safety

Last season Trice played nearly the max amount he could play while holding on to his redshirt. He appeared in three games and had one tackle, but that was still enough that he could maintain four years of eligibility. He enters this year at a crowded safety spot. Navon Mosley and Brennan Thieneman are the presumed starters, but true freshmen Marvin Grant and Jalen Graham are going to push for playing time as well.

One area where it would be interesting to see Trice compete for playing time is as a returner. He had a 97 yard kickoff return for a touchdown and three punt returns for touchdowns his senior year of high school. Since Purdue did not have a lot there last year outside of Rondale Moore (who should be preserved in amber) it might be a good place for Trice to contribute.
