Purdue has a really young, but talented secondary this year, and today’s player could have an impact.
Nyles Beverly - Fr.
Macadonia, OH (Nordonia HS)
6’, 195 pounds
Defensive Back
2019 Projection: Possible redshirt
Kenneth Major and Dedrick Mackey appear to have the top two spots at cornerback on lockdown, but Beverly is a player that could make a move as a reserve. He comes to us as a 3-star defensive back that had offers from Michigan, Minnesota, Kentucky, and several others. He is a bigger, more athletic corner that has the size to compete from day 1.
There is the possibility he could still redshirt, however. Purdue has a lot of options, albeit unproven, in the defensive backfield. We’re also going to see a lot of different looks as the season progresses. Don’t be surprised if Beverly is one of those players that appears in a handful of games to get some experience, but still redshirts.
