Finally, we’re at the end of this countdown and there is football tomorrow!

Dedrick Mackey - So.

Miami, FL (Booker T. Washington HS)

5’11”, 185 pounds

Cornerback

2019 Projection: Starter at Cornerback

Like Kenneth Major yesterday, Mackey was thrown to the fire a bit last season as a redshirt freshman at corner. He didn't record any starts, but he played in all 13 games. He finished the season with eight tackles and pass breakup as he got his feet wet.

This year his safety net is gone. He will be starting at corner along with Major and the hopes are that this duo will have Purdue set on the edge for the next three seasons.

Milton Wright - Fr.

Louisville, KY (Christian Academy Louisville)

6’3”, 195 pounds

Wide Receiver

2019 Projection: Contributor at Wide Receiver

Some time tomorrow night Wright will catch his first collegiate pass even though he is a true freshman. Like David Bell, he comes to Purdue with a ton of promise as an outside receiver. He was a four-star prospect by every recruiting service and it is exciting to think about what he can do with all the new weapons in the passing game.

His team was 15-0 last season, winning Kentucky’s Class 2A state championship. He was named that class’ Player of the Year, too. He finished the year with 67 receptions for 1,010 yards and 12 touchdowns along with 502 yards rushing and 9 more touchdowns.

Like so many of Purdue’s weapons, if we get him he ball in space some special things can happen. Wright is going to have a strong debut season.
