We’re less than two weeks away from kickoff so let’s meet another freshman coming out of redshirt.

Kadin Smith - Fr. (RS)

Taylorsville, KY (Spencer County HS)

6’, 210 pounds

Defensive Back

2019 Projection: Reserve at defensive back

I am not sure where Smith factors in going forward. He had 59 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery in his final season of high school, but redshirted last year. He also played running back, rushing for 946 yards and 14 TDs. Given the complete lack of depth we have in the offensive backfield could that be in his future?

That’s speculation right now, but this was an interesting part of his official Purdue bio. He scored touchdowns four different ways against Woodford County, as he rushed for two touchdowns, had a receiving touchdown, returned an interception for a touchdown and returned a fumble for a touchdown in the team’s 49-7 win.

With that kind of athleticism he can surely find a place on the field.
