One of the few positions where Purdue has won a national award is punter. Travis Dorsch won the Ray Guy Award in 2001 and Cody Webster later was a finalist for the same award. Today’s player has to replace a four-year starter who not only was a great punter, but an expert on fakes.
Brooks Cormier - Fr.
Tuscaloosa, AL (American Christian Academy)
6’5”, 215 pounds
Punter
2019 Projection: Starter at Punter
Purdue continued its dominance of the Alabama Crimson Tide by getting Cormier right out from under Saban’s nose in Tuscaloosa. He was rated as one of the top punters in America, as he was rated No. 5 in his class by Kohl’s Kicking Camps.
With Joe Schopper gone, Cormier will get every chance to start this season. He was brought in to be a four-year starter, but Zac Collins could also contribute at the position as a pooch punter. Cormier brings a big leg to the position and should help immediately.
