For two years today’s player has been a regular contributor in the secondary, but he will be pushed by the young guns this year.

Simeon Smiley - Jr.

Pensacola, FL (Pensacola Catholic HS)

6’, 205 pounds

Defensive Back

2019 Projection: Contributor at Defensive Back

Smiley has played in 25 of 26 possible games over the last two years, but he has only made one start. He missed last year’s Eastern Michigan game after suffering a concussion in the opener vs. Northwestern. He has a total of 40 tackles over the past two seasons playing mostly as a nickel corner.

His best game last year came at Nebraska, when he had five tackles and an interception in the road win in Lincoln. He also had six tackles in the win over Ohio State.

Expect Smiley to play a similar role this year. He may not start much, but he will definitely play a lot on passing downs.
