FIBA U-19 World Cup: USA 95, Russia 80

Its on to the semifinals for Team USA

NCAA Basketball: Belmont at Purdue Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

For one of the first games of the tournament Team USA was challenged on Friday in Greece. The American took on the Russians in a good, old-fashioned Cold War rivalry and just like back then, the Americans won. Trevion Williams struggled a bit in this one though.

Tre ended up playing just under 12 minutes, but finished with just 3 points. He did add six rebounds and two assists, however. He still has a solid line for the tournament overall. He is averaging 9.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. He is second on the team in rebounding overall, even though he has come off the bench for the most part. He is 18th in the entire tournament in rebounding.

The Americans now get a rematch with Lithuania in the semifinals. The USA beat Lithuania 102-84 in the second Group Stage game, and it was probably Tre’s worst game of the tournament. He struggled with fouls and finished with just three points and a single rebound.

The game is at 1:30pm ET Saturday, and should the Americans win they will face the winner between Mali and France at the same time on Sunday for the Gold.
