Again, my apologies for this coming up late. I am in our nation’s capital for the final leg of my vacation tonight and will be home Friday evening, so I can be a little more on point for the quartfinals, semifinals, and finals of this thing. Today saw the United States face Latvia in the round of 16 of the FIBA U-19 World Cup, and our own Trevion Williams continued to be an international incident.

Tre had a big game of 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists all off of the bench in just over 17 minutes. He was only 4 of 12 from the floor, but he was a really impressive 9 of 10 from the free throw line. For a guy that was barely over 50% from the line last season this is wonderful news, especially since Purdue’s bigs absorb a lot of punishment and get to the line quite a bit.

Team USA has the fourth off to celebrate freedom, then will play Russia on Friday at 11am ET. Assuming the Americans win they will face Serbia or Lithuania in the semifinals. Russia beat China 96-83 today and was 2-1 in the group phase, beating Greece and the Philippines but losing to Argentina.
