Today we feature a walk-on linebacker that has been with the program for a few seasons now.

Zach Randall - So.

Fishers, IN (Hamilton Southeastern HS)

6’, 230 pounds

Linebacker

2019 Projection: Deep Reserve at linebacker

Randall comes to us from a solid program in Hamilton Southeastern. He redshirted as a walk-on in 2017 and did not play last season, but he had 79 tackles and an interception in his final year at HSE.

It is a bit of a surprise that Randall ended up at Purdue to play football. He was also a lacrosse player for Hamilton Southeastern, and he had originally committed to play lacrosse collegiately at Mount St. Mary’s. He was quite the player, too:

Zach Randall, Defense: A captain for the lacrosse squad since his sophomore year (also a football player, where he was an offensive lineman as a junior and then moved to linebacker this past season); 2nd Team All-State 2016, 1st Team All-Conference 2016.

Well, he should know how to move in space as a lacrosse defender. If we need him, he’ll be there.
