We’re 82 days away from kickoff of the 2019 football season and there really is not a lot ot write about in the offseason. The gambling community often has plenty to talk about, however, and tonight BetOnline.ag released some of the opening lines for the for the season. Surprisingly, Purdue is a relatively big favorite on the road in week one. They have Purdue as a nine point favorite in the season opener at Nevada.
This kind of surprised me. Nevada is usually a pretty good team at home and it is a long road trip for the Boilers. Nevada was 7-6 a year ago and has the advantage of altitude in addition to Purdue traveling over 2,000 miles and three time zones to play a football game.
For the record, Purdue has not won a regular season game in the Pacific Time Zone since October 3, 1970 when is won at Stanford 26-14. Here are its resutls since then:
1971 at Washington (L 38-35)
1975 at Southern Cal (L 19-6)
1979 at UCLA (L 31-21)
1987 at Washington (L 28-10)
1989 at Washington (L 38-9)
1991 at California (L 42-18)
1998 at Southern Cal (L 27-17)
2000 vs. Washington (L 34-24) Rose Bowl
2008 at Oregon (L 38-36)
2017 vs. Arizona (W 38-35) Foster Farms Bowl
