Injuries and bad luck may have ended the full court career prematurely for Robbie Hummel, but the BTN/ESPN commentator is not totally done with the game of basketball. The 3 on 3 game is undergoing a revolution and today Hummel became a World Champion as a result:
The moment you become a WORLD CHAMPION!

Congrats @RobbieHummel on the @FIBA3x3 World Cup title. #Purdue / #ProBoilers pic.twitter.com/yjbVLMS0bW
This was the inaugural FIBA 3x3 World Cup and Hummel helped Team USA to a championship. He led Team USA with 46 points over 7 games, 3rd most of anyone in the tournament. That led to him being named tournament MVP.
There is even better news: 3x3 will be an Olympic sport next summer in Tokyo and Rob stands an excellent chance of representing the USA once again when that comes around. Along with Steele Kohnson Purdue could win a pair of Olympic golds next year.
