71 Days to Purdue Football: Sam Loebig

Today we feature another big walk-on lineman

NCAA Football: Foster Farms Bowl-Arizona vs Purdue Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Today is another walk-on lineman today as we take a look at a long time Scout Team contributor from Maryland.

Sam Loebig - Jr.

Chevy Chase, MD (Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS)

6’3”, 300 pounds

Offensive Line

2019 Projection: Deep Reserve

Loebig has been a long time member of the walk-on corps. He walked on to the team in 2016 and has spent the last three seasons as a strong practice player. He was touted as a very good lineman for his local area in high school, however:

When I started doing these list I was very surprised at the number of BCC kids that started to appear. They quietly have some of the best talent in the county next year and the key to them making the playoffs might be Samuel Loebig. This kid has all of the makings of an elite offensive tackle. Samuel has long arms and great feet; you see him constantly reach block edge defenders on film. Would love to see more aggressiveness from him, but his athleticism makes up for that at times. This kid could be really special.

That was just a few years ago, however, and Loebig still has two seasons to make an impact on the field. According to his LinkedIn profile Sam is studying public health and aspires to be a veterinarian.
