79 Days to Purdue Football: Matt McCann

McCann will continue to be a stalwart on the offensive line.

Today we get into he offensive line, where we will be spending the next couple of weeks. We’ll start with he most experienced player in that unit.

Matt McCann - Sr. (5)

Fishers, IN (Bishop Chatard HS)

6’6”, 305 pounds

Offensive Tackle

2019 Projection: Starter at Offensive Tackle

In his previous four years at Purdue McCann has done a little bit of everything on the offensive line. After redshirting his first year he started 10 of 12 games in 2016. He has started each of the 26 games in the past two seasons, often at tackle. He has played on both ends of the line and at guard, however, showing his versatility. In fact, he spent all of 2017 at right guard before moving to right tackle in 2018.

There is no question we’re going to rely on McCann in 2019. He is one of just two returning linemen as a starter along with Grant Hermanns. Both will be anchors this year as we break in three new starters on the interior of the line.
