Purdue Football Schedules Fresno State for 2023

Future Purdue schedules continue to go away from delicious MACtion in favor of new opponents. The Boilers already have games scheduled against first time opponents UConn, Memphis, and Air Force in coming seasons. Now a new opponent gets in not he mix as Fresno State is coming to Ross-Ade Stadium on September 2, 2023:

Purdue’s schedules are now complete through 2024 except for one open date in 2022, which will likely be filled soon. This also appears to be a one-off game with no return trip to Fresno.

Purdue has never played Fresno State before, but the Bulldogs are known for their “any time, anywhere” scheduling philosophy. They are 5-10 all-time against the Big Ten, including a 21-14 loss to Minnesota last season in Minneapolis. They swept Illinois in a recent home-and-home and lost at Nebraska 43-10 in 2016. Wisconsin and Rutgers have also played them in recent home-and-homes, so it is a bit of a surprise we got them for a one-off game.

As far as other schedules, Purdue is almost certainly looking at a home game for that 2022 spot. That season has five home games and six road games with a home non-conference game against Indiana State and a road trip to Syracuse. It could be the home end of another home-and-home with the back end out in 2025, as Purdue still needs one game for that year as well. In 2025 Purdue has five home conference games, a home date against Connecticut, and a road game at Notre Dame.

Aside from 2022 and 2025 Purdue does not have another non-conference opening until 2027, where it has two around another road game at Notre Dame.
