Coach Painter got his guy.
This morning, Jahaad Proctor, a 5th year guard from High Point, committed to Purdue.

With the departure of Carsen Edwards to the NBA, it was vital for Coach Painter to lock up a grad transfer shooting guard. If we were unable to do so, we would be starting a Freshman, or Sophomore at that spot - while they are talented, they are not ready to start in my opinion.
On top of Purdue, Proctor was getting attention from both Kansas and Kansas State.
A quick glance at Proctor’s stats show me enough to know he is a scorer, who will probably have an opportunity to eat up a bunch of shots that are left with Carsen and Ryan Cline departing.
In the 2018-2019 season, Proctor averaged, 19.5 PPG, 4 RPG, 3 APG. He shot 54% from inside the arc and 33% from outside. I know what you are thinking, “we didn’t get a 3 point sniper”. No worries, the year before, his sophomore season, he shot 38% from three while attempting 6 per game. For reference, Carsen show 35% from three this year.
At 6-3, 220 pounds, Proctor will boast a nice inside and outside game. He will be able to get to the bucket or hit his open jumpers on the perimeter.
Personally, Proctor was the guy I wanted. As stated in my first Grad Transfer Post. I love his ability to be able to get to the rim, his size at 220 will transfer better to the big ten than the thinner grad transferring guards and I believe he will rebound well for us.
Defensively, he will have to get back into the flow of a man defense, as High Point played zone at times, but, he has the ability to do so.
Welcome to Purdue, Jahaad! Boiler Up!
UPDATE: Here is our current scholarship grid. You can assume that if the 13th spot stay open for 2019-20 Luce will be on scholarship again.
