Purdue’s other JuCo receiver was much like Isaac Zico in the previous profile today. Terry Wright was also slow to emerge in the offense, but once he did, he was a real threat. Wright probably projects more as a slot receiver in the NFL, but he does have something all the scouts like: blazing speed.
In 2017, his first season in West Lafayette, Wright caught 29 passes for 274 yards and also rushed for 45 yards on five carries. He struggled with consistency in catching the ball, however, like many of our receivers that year. In 2018 he caught one fewer pass, but he was much more of a big play threat. He finished the season with 28 receptions for 468 yards and 5 touchdowns. He even had a rushing TD on his one carry of the season for one yard.
Wright had a massive game in the upset of Iowa on November 3rd. He caught six passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. One was a huge 82 yard TD that was one of the longest plays of the season. He also had TD catches against Missouri and Boston College.
If Wright makes the NFL it will be because of his speed. He ran a 4.44 40 at pro day and could be a return man in the league. He has enough speed that he briefly ran track in 2018 as well as played football. Is that enough to make it? We’ll see. I am sure some team will pick him up as an undrafted free agent.
