Purdue Football: NFL Draft Profile, Kirk Barron

The body should be able to play on Sundays.

NCAA Football: Purdue at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Kirk Barron

Position: Center/Guard

Height/Weight: 6’2”, 300 Pounds

Prediction: I believe that the body will be on a rookie camp roster. He was the every game center of a big ten team since his sophomore season, I just don’t see how he isn’t at least invited to a rookie camp.

I also would not be surprised for him to sneak into a training camp roster and get on a practice squad year one. All mock drafts I have read have Kirk going as an Undrafted Rookie. which allows him to be selective.

Personally, I think he will get multiple calls to join the rookie camp, teams will need rookie centers for this and he is certainly a top 32 center in this draft, but 32 centers will not be drafted.

I will roll with what most mock have and pencil him as undrafted, but I have him being solid in the rookie camp and getting into training camp somewhere. Kirk has the size and strength to play in the NFL, he also can dunk a basketball - which is impressive.

A team could potentially slide him to a guard spot if needed. In the NFL back up offensive lineman have to be versatile. The Colts had a back up last season that played tackle, guard and center at one point.
