The Purdue women kicked off the B1G Ten Tournament with a win last night over the last seeded Illinois Fighting Illini.
Purdue won the game 72-60, lead by Karissa McLaughlin scoring 17 points and having 4 assists. Ae’Rianna Harris was a rebound shy away from a double-double, posting a 13 and 9 stat line.
Lyndsey Whiliby added 14 for the Boilers as well.
This is an uphill climb after a colossal meltdown over the last half of the season, after starting the year 13-5.
The women will have to win four more games this week to win the tournament and get bid into the big dance. I do not see any other way for the ladies to get a bid to the big dance other than to do that.
Tonight, they face the 6 seed, Nebraska Cornhuskers around 8 PM. Earlier in the season, we lost to Nebraska twice, the first loss was by 20, the second loss was only by 6. Maybe, a third time will get us over the hump.
Best of luck to the Women’s Basketball Team tonight! Boiler Up!
