2019 NCAA Tournament: Purdue Gets 3 Seed in South Region

Shall We Dance?

NCAA Basketball: Big Ten Conference Tournament-Purdue vs Minnesota David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

It has been a long time since the season started in early November, but for the 31st time ever and fifth straight season Purdue is in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue will be traveling to Hartford, Connecticut to face Old Dominion as the 3 Seed in the South Region. Purdue will play at some time on Thursday.

Purdue is coming off of its record 24th Big Ten regular season championship and has made hte Sweet 16 in consecutive years. As we know, however, we haven’t gone beyond the Sweet 16 since 2000 and haven’t made a Final Four since 1980.

We’ll have more this week analyzing our opponent and our region, but it nice to have a protected seed. This is the third year in a row we have had a 4 seed or better and as long as we perform to seed we’ll be back in the Sweet 16. With Carsen Edwards we always have a chance, too, as he is long overdue to get hot and take a game over. Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert will have a say as well.

At least we have a chance.

Purdue beat Old Dominion 61-39 on November 21, 2015 in the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic in Uncasville, Connecticut near Hartford. A win would have us facing Villanova or St. Mary’s Purdue did beat St. mary’s in the 2012 First Round.
