It has been almost two years since Mason Gillis has played any meaningful basketball. His senior season at New Castle, once hoped to be a campaign for a state title, was reduced to a ceremonial basket on senior night before he was subbed out. A knee injury cost him his final year of high school, but he was still named an honorary Indiana All-Star.

He still managed to score 1,251 career points at New Castle, averaging 15.8 points per game and shooting 58% from the field. He played strong defense too with 10.5 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.

Like Aaron Wheeler yesterday, Gillis is a versatile forward that can play on the wing or near the basket. The idea of Wheeler and Gillis developing as a 3-4 combo over the next few seasons is an exciting one.

Welcome back to the court tonight, Mason.
