National Poll

Top 4
I still have no idea why Bama is ranked 2nd if we’re going by resume, but I think I’ve made my thoughts clear on that situation.
Ohio State and Clemson round out the Top 4. I think LSU, Bama, Clemson and Ohio State are the top 4 teams, but I’m not sure about the order, not that it matters much. If you’re in the top 4, you’re good to go.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the loser of the Bama vs LSU game.
5-10
After dispatching the Gators, in the “Not the World’s Largest Cocktail Party, but we’ve got more booze in the parking lot than most mid sized European countries, y’all want a drink” game, the Bulldogs move up a spot to 6th. The Gators dropped to 11th, ending the “what if Florida wins out” debate.
Oregon climbs into the top 10 in place of the Gators. The other teams from last week remain the same, in a week that’s usually seen as a mid season deep breath for most top outfits.
11-20
There are two new additions to this section of the poll. Florida moves down and Oregon moves up to the top 10 in a 1 of 1 switch.
Memphis moves up to 15th from 23rd last week and App State drops from 17th to 23rd after losing to Georgia Southern.
21-25
Not much movement in this section of the poll, which is unusual. As mentioned above, App State and Memphis swapped sections.
Kansas State moves into the top 25, and Iowa dropped out of the polls.
Hammer and Rails Top 25
- LSU (8-0)
- Ohio State (8-0)
- Alabama (8-0)
- Clemson (9-0)
- Penn State (8-0)
- Georgia (7-1)
- Oklahoma (7-1)
- Utah (8-1)
- Oregon (8-1)
- Baylor (8-0)
- Auburn (7-2)
- Florida (6-2)
- Minnesota (8-0)
- Notre Dame (6-2)
- Memphis (8-1)
- Cincinnati (6-1)
- Wisconsin (6-2)
- Michigan (7-2)
- Wake Forest (7-1)
- SMU (8-1)
- Boise State (7-1)
- San Diego State (7-1)
- Iowa (6-2)
- Kansas State (6-2)
- Louisiana Tech (7-1)
I like your top 4 better than the National poll. Bama and Clemson at 3⁄4 (either way) makes more sense than Bama at 2. That, of course, will change this weekend.
Everything else looks good. I will make a small argument that K-State is being disrespected. They have the best win (Oklahoma) in the top 25 and have two “good” losses (Ok St on the road and Baylor). As far as 2 loss teams go, they might have the best overall resume. If they knock off Texas in Austin this weekend, they should probably end up in the top 15.
Program Confidence
The knee jerked confidence continues for the Boilermakers. Knocking of Nebraska jumped Purdue to 94% confidence, from 70% the previous week.
I remain cautiously optimistic.
Game of the Week
