Jeff Brohm has reeled in some big ones in the last two recruiting classes.
This summer, he got a surprise commitment from Christian Gonzalez, brother in law to former Boilermaker David Blough. It was a weird, all of the sudden commitment this summer - one that truly never seemed solid.
Well, Christian has chose to take his talents to Colorado, announcing via Twitter this afternoon.
“This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.”

This is truly the first time we have been burned in recruiting since Coach Brohm arrived, in the past couple of class 2019 and 2020, he has reeled in some big time recruits. The solid relationship never appeared to be there with Christian as it has with some of the other commits.
Or he looked at out depth chart at safety, saw Marvin Grant, Jalen Graham & Cam Allen and said “Nah I’m good”.
At this point, it is what it is. Purdue still has a loaded class, will it fall out of the top 25? Probably so. But this will open up room for Coach Brohm and Co to go after another guy.
This class still has 4 defensive back commits - in Sanoussi Kane, Jaylen Stinson, Malachi Melton and Antonio Stevens, which all are three star recruits.
Best of luck in Colorado, Christian.
