We have a preseason basketball poll from the associated press! As expected, Purdue is in it, as well. The Boilers have been a top 25 for the vast majority of the last four seasons. Purdue has been ranked a total of 68 of the last 76 polls over the last four seasons, and that trend continues into 2019-20.
Here is the preseason AP to 25, with Purdue opponents in bold.
- Michigan State (60) 1,619
- Kentucky (2) 1,497
- Kansas (3) 1,457

Others Receiving Votes: Washington 164, Colorado 152, Tennessee 78, Marquette 68, Florida St. 36, Davidson 34, Harvard 24, Illinois 14, Missouri 13, Mississippi St. 12, Houston 11, Georgetown 11, Cincinnati 8, Notre Dame 7, Creighton 4, Syracuse 3, NC State 3, Vermont 2, Alabama 2, Southern Cal 2, Liberty 2, Michigan 2, Dayton 1, Colgate 1, Providence 1.
As you can see, Purdue has potentially four top 25 matchups in the non-conference season with Virginia, Marquette, VCU, and either Florida State or Tennessee based on the Thanksgiving Tournament. Only one is at home, too. We also have the No. 1 and No. 7 team in our conference. Ohio State at No. 18 is an interesting choice, as is Utah State at 17 and Seton Hall at 12, but hey, it’s a preseason poll.
