Winning Big Ten weekly award in a loss is tough to do, but David Bell has done it. It helps when you have one of the best receiving days in Purdue football history, too. For the second straight week Bell is the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Bell had an outstanding day against Iowa, grabbing 13 receptions for 197 yards and a touchdown. The 197 yards receiving is now a freshman record and would have been the best by a Purdue receiver this season had Rondale Moore not gone for 220 against Vanderbilt.
Bell is now up to 39 receptions for 635 yards and 4 TDs this season. He could still reach 1,000 yards on the year for only the 14th time in Purdue history, and he has stepped up big time in the last few weeks. Bell has gone over 100 yards receiving in three of the last four games since Moore’s injury and has 33 receptions in the last four games.
