It is Big Ten Basketball media Day in Chicago, which means very little outside of canned quotes and uninteresting questions since I am not there to ask Thad Matta about Mark Titus. What is always fun is the release of the Preseason All-Big Ten teams and projected standings. That usually means Purdue is involved since we have won two of the last three regular season championships and finished second in the third year. That trend continues as junior guard Nojel Eastern was named to the Preseason all-Big Ten team:
2019-20 PRESEASON BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE YEAR
CASSIUS WINSTON, SENIOR GUARD, MICHIGAN STATE
2019-20 PRESEASON ALL-BIG TEN TEAM
Ayo Dosunmu, Sophomore Guard, Illinois
Joe Wieskamp, Sophomore Guard, Iowa
ANTHONY COWAN JR., SENIOR GUARD, MARYLAND
Jalen Smith, Sophomore Forward, Maryland
Zavier Simpson, Senior Guard, Michigan
Xavier Tillman, Junior Forward, Michigan State
CASSIUS WINSTON, SENIOR GUARD, MICHIGAN STATE
KALEB WESSON, JUNIOR FORWARD, OHIO STATE
Lamar Stevens, Senior Forward, Penn State
Nojel Eastern, Junior Guard, Purdue
Unanimous selections in ALL CAPS
Purdue is contending for its record 25th regular season Big Ten championship and hopefully third in four years. The media expects another top 4 finish for Purdue, as a poll of media figures has Purdue projected to finish 4th in the league behind Michigan State, Maryland, and Ohio State.
