It was quite a Saturday for Purdue’s football freshmen. All five touchdowns were scored by freshman, three of them via pass that was also thrown by a freshman. That means it is time for some weekly awards as Purdue took home multiple conference honors this week.
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week - Jack Plummer
This is not bad at all for a freshman making just the third start of his career. Plummer completed 33 of 41 passes for an impressive 420 yards and three touchdowns.

Plummer was aided by fellow freshman who won his own award:
Big Ten Freshman of the Week - David Bell
Bell had an outstanding game in his own right. Bell caught 9 passes for 138 yards and two scores. he also showed how elusive he could be after the catch as he constantly evaded tacklers.

Another worthy candidate for this award would have been Cory Trice, who had a career day with six tackles, two interceptions, and his game-changing pick-6 just before halftime. Trice did not get Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.
