After a mistake-prone home opener against Northwestern our Boilermakers find themselves in dead last place in the Big Ten. It was a frustrating loss, no doubt. Three turnovers and multiple penalties at the worst time were the difference as we dropped a winnable game. If only a few things go differently Purdue has a win, but there is still a lot ot look forward too.
Fortunately there are more games, and that starts this week with the Eastern Michigan Eagles from the MAC. We have gone away from playing the MAC as much in recent years, partially because they are not the guarantee buy games they used to be. On paper this looks like the easiest game of the year (except maybe Illinois). We’re a multiple touchdown favorite at home, so hopefully this becomes a game where we can fine tune a few things. Cut back on the turnovers and penalties and we’ll be fine in the long run.
