So maybe this new focus on Friday Drankin’ isn’t working out. For two weeks I have featured a brewery in the city of our opposition and for two weeks Purdue has lost. Ah well. I made a commitment and I am sticking to it. As a result, here is a brewery in the heart of Columbia, Missouri.
405 Fay Street
Columbia, MO 65201
One thing I like about Logboat is that htey have a nice distribution map on where to find their products. They come as far east as St. Louis, so if I make it to a Cardinals game next summer I’ll have to see if I can find them at Total Wine.
Their tap list is extensive, too. They have a core lineup of six beers and they currently list an additional four seasonal offerings, five upcoming special releases, two barrel aged, and a double IPA in their “Delta Series”. Here are the ones I would definitely try:
Dark Matter Wheat Porter - 6.6% ABV, 25 IBU - Dark Matter is dosed up with wheat malt to give it a smooth, subtle breadiness and extra body. Dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavors meld like thermonuclear plasma. We enjoy drinking Dark Matter while eating brownies, cranking M. Monoceros on the stereo, and thinking about portals.
Bobber Lager - 5% ABV, 15 IBU - Bobber is an unfiltered Lager brewed with inspiration from the pale German lagers. Noble Hops provide little bitterness and lend to the crisp finish with a hint of floral notes. Best of luck with the bass fishin’.
Shiphead Ginger Wheat - 5.5% ABV, 25 IBU - Shiphead is brewed with Peruvian ginger straight out of the rainforest. Coriander and fresh lemon zest yield citrus tang. Alien Sea Sorceress, find your glow.
Cowboy Me Black Lager - 5% ABV, 16 IBU - This Schwarzbier style has piles of flavor with subtle notes of chocolate and roasted flavors and a hint of smokiness from the malt. Lager yeast cleans this Cowboy up nice
Knot Hole Marzen Lager - 6% ABV, 20 IBU - Most deem this extraordinarily delicious amber lager an Oktoberfest, but it’s regularly released as early as July or August. And there is no explanation. Enjoy the Knothole. Enjoy not being stuck inside a tree.
Alien Gold Barrel Aged Strong Ale - 8.5% ABV, 10 IBU - Alien Gold is a Belgian Style ale aged in Burgundy Oak barrels with Rainer Cherries for 1 Earth year inside the third dimension. We only brew a small batch so make sure to grab some when you see it!
I am planning a trip out to Colorado next summer and if I make the drive again this is definitely going to have to be a stop!
