Today we have a freshman walk-on who comes to us from one of the state’s premier football programs.
Alfred Armour - Fr.
Indianapolis, IN (Warren Central HS)
6’1”, 220 pounds
Running Back
2018 Projection: Likely Redshirt
Warren Central is always among the state’s best teams. In fact, they normally play a more national schedule. This season they complete a home-and-home with Kentucky powerhouse Louisville Trinity. During Armour’s time they played Cincinnati Colerain twice. They play in the always brutal Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference, which has produced all five Class 6A state champions since Class 5A split into 5A and 6A for the 2013 season. Warren Central is one of the best of that group with 8 state championshisp, six coming since 2003.
His stats for last season are incomplete, but MaxPreps lists him with 109 all-purpose yards in the five games they tracked. Warren Central went 7-4, losing to eventual state champion ben Davis 45-16 in the regular season and 36-29 in the sectional. They also lost to Lawrence Central 35-26 and Louisville Trinity 42-41, but had good wins over Carmel and Center Grove.
One benefit of having Armour on the roster is that he was a high school teammate of all-everything David Bell, whom Purdue is pursuing big time in recruiting. If he can help us get Bell, even better.
