24 Days to Purdue Football: Tim Cason

The senior defensive back is looking to establish a role

NCAA Football: Purdue at Maryland Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Today’s player is one that has beenon the edge for three years. He has been mostly a reserve, but brings some starting experience to the secondary. While it looks as if Purdue is going to roll with a pair of freshman corners, today’s player can play in a pinch.

Tim Cason - Sr. (5)

Clarkston, MI (Clarkston HS)

6’, 195 pounds

Cornerback

2018 Projection: Contributor at Cornerback

In his career Cason has played in 17 of a possible 37 games to this point. His best year was in 2016, when he made seven starts and had 17 tackles. With Da’Wan Hunte and Josh Okonye playing most of the snaps last season Cason’s action was limited to two games. He had four tackles, but did force a fumble against Illinois.

What does that mean for this year? Well, it looks like he and Kamal Hardy will be the top reserves. That means we have hte luxury of experienced depth at corner. There is also the possibilty of playing time in the nickl spot if we run more of a 4-2-5.
