Today’s player is the second of JuCo transfer receivers in their senior year that we’re hoping will have “The Leap” this year.

Isaac Zico - Sr.

Wide Receiver

2018 Projection: Contributor at Wide Receiver

Jeff Brohm wants production from his outside receviers and he missed DeAngelo Yancey by a year. Last season it was Anthony Mahoungou that was the big outside receiver that emerged as a deep threat. This year it might be Zico. He has the size and the ability to have a great season this year.

Last year was an up and down one for Zico. He started with a modest two catches in the seaosn opener against Louisville, but finished with only 6 receptions for 34 yards on the year. He did catch his only touchdown pass of the season in the fourth quarter of the Indiana game and it proved to be the difference. His 4 yard TD catch put Purdue in front 31-10, and the Boilers held on despite a pair of late TDs by the Hoosiers.

He has the potential for a big year. In his final JuCo year at Georgia Military College he caught 46 passes for 938 yards and 14 touchdowns in just 11 games. This was after 14 receptions for 295 yards and 5 TDs as a freshman. It is safe to say we could live with that type of production.
