10 Days to Purdue Football: Amad Anderson & Jordan Rucker

Today we feature a pair of freshman as we have a week and a half to go.

NCAA Football: Foster Farms Bowl-Arizona vs Purdue Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

LAst season Gregory Phillips went out with a bang in the No. 10 jersey. He scored his only two touchdowns of the year in the Foster Farms Bowl win over Arizona. Now we have a new No. 10 at receiver and at defensive back.

Amad Anderson - Fr.

Staten Island, NY (Curtis HS)

5’11”, 175 pounds

Wide Receiver

2018 Projection: Possible contributor at wide receiver

Anderson comes to us from Staten Island, where we were able to get him to commit over Rutgers. His team went 11-1 last season and won the Public Schools Athletic League City Conference. The lone loss came agains Erasmus Hall, and they avenged that loss in the championship game. Here he is on his commitment to Purdue:

Last season he was a big play threat for Curtis HS. He finished the year with 16 touchdown receptions on only 37 receptions overall. He had three games with at least 100 yards receiving and he also had a rushing touchdown, a kickoff return TD, and a punt return TD.

Anderson enrolled early and went through spring practice, so he has a leg up to play this year as a true freshman.

Jordan Rucker - Fr.

Denton, TX (Ryan HS)

6’1”, 190 pounds

Defensive Back

2018 Projection: Likely redshirt

Rucker enters a crowded defensive backfield, but he was a three-star commitment by all three major services. Arizona State, Illinois, and Texas Tech were his major conference offers. Last season his school went 14-1 and went all the way to the texas Class 5A-D1 semifinals before losing to Highland Park. He layed both offense and defense, but projects as a defensive back for Purdue.
