Today we feature a pair of promising freshmen.

Now that we have a full roster it means all the freshmen have numbers. As a result, there are two No. 28s to feature today: one on offense and one on defense.

Jacob Abrams - Fr. (RS)

Carmel, IN (Carmel HS)

6’2”, 195 pounds

2018 Projection: Reserve at Cornerback

Abrams is coming out of his redshirt year and he is the type of big, athletic corner that coach brohm loves to recruit. He comes to us from one of the state’s premier programs at Carmel. in 2016 as a senior there both he and teammate Mark Stickford led the Greyhounds to the Class 6A state title. He had 60 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 9 pass breakups along the way.

Abrams was also athletic enough to run track for Carmel, where he helped them to three consecutive team state championships in his last three years (because Carmel wins everything).

Evan Anderson - Fr.

Suwanee, GA (Cillons Hills HS)

6’1”, 200 pounds

Running Back

2018 Projection: Likely redshirt

With the depth Purdue has at running back it would seem that Anderson is likely heading toward a redshirt. Markell Jones and D.J. Knox are seniors while Tario Fuller and Richie Worship (if healthy) are juniors at the position. All four will likely feature in the offense, giving Anderson time to redshirt.

Last year Anderosn ran for 1,207 yards and 13 touchdowns for Collins Hills HS in Georgia. they finished 6-5 as a team and lost int he first round of the state playoffs.
