Hi everyone, Hammer and Rails is starting a new partnership with PawSwap Animal Rescue of Greater Lafayette to feature an adoptable Big Dog of the week (the dog doesn’t actually have to be big).
The dog will be featured with a great Boilermaker of the past.
This weeks Big Dog of The Week (BDOTW) is Levi, featured with recent Purdue Big Dog Ja’Whaun Bentley.

Boilermaker Big Dog Levi:
According to PawSwap
Levi is the cutest, burliest, linebacker. He is a mix of breeds, possibly lab, bulldog, maybe Rottweiler and weighs about 65 pounds. He is around 2 years old. Levi is fun and loves play with toys. He doesn’t quite get the concept of catch, but he does love to play soccer and kick the toys around the yard. Levi walks well on leash. Levi is very kennel trained and house trained. We feel Levi would do best with a home with no other pets, older children and a fenced yard. Levi is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
Please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $100.
Boilermaker Big Dog Ja’Whaun Bentley
When I saw this big hitter come through my email, he immediately reminded me of recent Purdue big hitter and current New England Patriot, Ja’Whaun Bentley.
Bentley came to Purdue as a 3* MLB recruit out of Dematha Catholic in Maryland, and made an impact the day he stepped on campus.
Bentley played from Purdue from 14’ - 17’ and racked up 272 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and a touchdown. A born leader, Bentley was a rare 3 year captain for the Boilermakers.
The only thing that slowed down the mashing middle linebacker was a torn ACL in his sophomore season, but he rebounded nicely and turned in his best season as a senior, helping lead Purdue’s revitalized defense to one of the biggest defensive unit turnarounds in the NCAA.
Here are some choice Bentley cuts:
Hope the Bentley highlights got your juices flowing, and I hope someone out there can give Boilermaker Big Dog Levi the home he deserves.
